Leisure Life of Princess Yun Yu – Chapter 29

Chapter 29

Grandma Yun did not want her granddaughter to live too hard. She thought the best way would be for her granddaughter to marry Xiao Qin and have the baby. However, if Yunyu really felt that they could not cultivate feelings and did not want to be together, she could also abort the baby and start anew. As for having the child in a single-parent household, Grandma Yun really was not in favor of it as it would be really tough on the other.

Living in such a village, when children are born out of wedlock, those who gossip can chew people to death (T/N: Bahhh I don’t even wanna bother rephasing that. Y’all would probably get the general gist of what it means).

Yunyu’s face was pale. After a long time, she lowered her head and said in a hoarse voice, “Grandma, let me think about it.”

Practitioners of metaphysics believe in cause and effect, and many times, having offsprings would be difficult. Even if the child came by accident, she would not get rid of it. As for the decisions that come after, her brian was currently mush and she could not think so much.

“Okay, Grandma won’t force you. It’s just that the baby is already five weeks old, and the belly should be obvious in one or two months.” Grandma Yun patted the back of her granddaughter’s hand, “You go to sleep first. Grandma won’t bother you anymore.” With that, Grandma Yun left.

Yunyu sat on without moving for half an hour until the phone on the table rang. She abruptly came back to her senses and stared at the phone for a while before getting up and going over. She saw an unfamiliar number displayed on it. The geographical location showed that it was from the Imperial Capital and she had a premonition. She hesitated for a moment before pressing the button to connect. She did not say anything and a man’s steady voice came from inside, “Hello.”

Yunyu frowned, “Qin?” She vaguely remembered his name was Qin something. Grandma called him Xiao Qin which was a little too affectionate. She only fell asleep on the hospital bed for a few hours, and he managed to coax Grandma to speak nice words for him.

“Qin Yusui (T/N: 秦予绥 Qín yǔ suí. Honestly, half the time, when I read novels, I NEVER get the name pronunciation right. So, here y’all go!).” The person on the phone reported his name.

It was all because of him, Yunyu thought. Otherwise why would she be so distressed now. She was annoyed, and said angrily, “Why are you calling me? We don’t know each other well.”

The person on the phone fell silent before saying, “I’m sorry.”

Yunyu did not speak and Qin Yusui continued, “I left yesterday because of some family matters. I’ll come to you once I’ve dealt with it. I had someone investigate what happened at the clubhouse (T/N: Chapter 1 where they did it) and found that you were drugged by a classmate. That matter was my fault. I didn’t call the police when it happened and instead bullied you. I want to take responsibility. nN matter what your decision is, I will respect it.”

Yunyu knew that his family background was unusual. Since he could find out about the clubhouse, he must have found out about other things as well.

She said, “Then, do you know who was colluding with my classmate behind the scenes? My classmate does not have the means to open a room there (T/N: If I remember correctly, the clubhouse was an exclusive rich people clubhouse so only members or people with privilege could stay the night and “open a room”).”

Qin Yusui said, “It was your step-sister. She knows a businessman, and wanted to hook you up with him. The room was opened under his name.”

Yunyu became angry, “What’s the name of the boss?” She would not let a single one of them off.

These people killed the original Yunyu and carried her life on their backs. How could they be allowed to simply go on with their merry lives?

Also, Yunyu did not expect that it would be her step-sister, Yun Weiwei, who colluded with Ge Qing. She met her at school back then, and by looking at her (T/N: Face-reading her), she thought that she was just duplicitous (T/N: cunning/ deceitful) and narrow-minded. They clearly had some blood ties between them and even if the two of them could not get along peacefully because of the scumbag father’s relationship, they should not be this vicious against each other.

“His name is Tang Hongliang (T/N: Continuing off where Yunyu asked what the businessman’s name is). He is  in the catering industry and is also involved in the entertainment industry,” Qin Yusui said concisely.

Yunyu calmed down and thanked him.

Qin Zisui said, “Is there anything I can help you with?”

“No.” Yunyu heard that his voice was extremely hoarse (T/N: I don’t know what’s the point of adding this line or if there is any hidden meaning behind it), and she calmly said, “Mr. Qin, thank you, I hope our relationship can end here. You know we made a mistake at the beginning. I can’t blame you for this matter as you can also be considered a victim. So, I hope that we don’t contact each other in the future. Ok?” There was a long silence from the other end.

    .

Yunyu thought for a moment, and then said, “Mr. Qin, can you send me Tang Hongliang’s information?” “

“Okay,” He said. “Send me your WeChat ID. I will forward the information to you.”

Here is what the Weechat interface looks like. I just randomly googled it. It’s like a WhatsApp or Messenger with more functions. You can pay/ send/ receive money with it, use it as a way to share/ post about your day or some pictures and whatnot, and do some other stuff with it. I’m not sure either. I barely use it and most of the time I use it to create accounts for Chinese Apps that require a verified social media account.

Yunyu’s WeChat account is not tied to her mobile phone. It was registered a long time ago, and she hasn’t used it since she became Yunyu.

After logging in, she added Qin Yusui as a friend, and waited for him to send over the information.

It took less than a minute to receive the information from Qin Yusui and she took a simple glance through. This Tang Hongliang made his fortune in catering. His restaurants had good flavors so the business was quite good. One could earn a lot of money doing business in the food and beverage industry in the early years (T/N: I believe this referred to the late 90s where China’s economy was on the rise when they opened up free trade. The reason why I even know this is because there’s a whole novel genre on it. It tends to be in the slice of life genre with childcare and business management involved. Some recs: Bai Fumei in the ‘70s, Second Marriage in the 1970s and Transmigrated into a Parvenu’s Ex-wife in the ‘90s) . After making his fortune, he started to invest in the entertainment industry. Yun Weiwei probably wanted to enter the entertainment industry so she got to know Tang Hongliang through some connections. Since Tang Hongliang was a womanizer, he wanted to take advantage of Yun Weiwei.

How could Yun Weiwei be willing to be taken advantage of by such an old man? So, she gave Tang Hongliang a photo of Yunyu and told him that she could give him such a cold beauty.

Tang Hongliang happened to like this type, so he agreed to give Yun Weiwei resources after the matter was completed (T/N: In the Chinese entertainment industry (whole other novel genre here too. Also where I got my info from hehe), artists tend to join companies to get resources but it is super competitive. So, sometimes, they find outside help aka have a sugar daddy who can give them resources such as a role in a movie, variety show, or being a brand ambassador. Some recs for the entertainment circle novels: Get to know about a Wife Fan, The Master of Metaphysics is The Movie Queen (this one is more metaphysics than entertainment circle but its still good), The Villain’s Contract Lover and The Former Wife of Invisible Wealthy Man).

Yun Weiwei and Ge Qing also had a good relationship. They were part of the same club (T/N: like a club and society kinda thing, eg school magazine or student council), and they both hated Yunyu, so they became friends.

Thus, the two of them worked hand in hand to come up with a plan like this. But, who was to know Ge Qing made a silly mistake and admitted Yunyu to the wrong room.

Yunyu gritted her teeth angrily after reading the information. These people should all be damned!

Because of her pregnancy, she was in a complicated mood. And now that she learned about these matters, she could not sleep.

She exited the document, lay back on the bed, and reached out to touch her belly.

Now her lower abdomen was still flat. There was no way to see that a life had been conceived in her stomach.

After rubbing her belly, Yunyu suddenly did not feel distress anymore. She had never been married in her previous life, so naturally she would not have had any children. But she did have  a few good friends who were about the same age as her. They got married when they were about 15 or 16 years old and had babies after (T/N: Remember it was ancient times, peeps!). The babies that they gave birth to were white, tender and oh so cute. They would softly call her Princess gugu (T/N: 姑姑 Gūgū – which means paternal aunt or can just be referring to any older females who are part of the parents generation. Maternal aunt is called 姨姨 Yíyí/ 阿姨  āyí and can also be used by the younger generation to address any females of the older generation). After she hugged them, she did not want to let them go.

If she could have such an adorable kid, it did not seem like such a bad thing?

Her emotions come and go quickly. Now that she had figured it out, she had no intention of aborting the baby.

It could be regarded as a child given to her by God.

After two lifetimes, it was good to have a child, she thought.

Now that she had figured it out, there was nothing to worry about.

Yunyu was playing with her mobile phone. The WeChat interface was still open, and she had not touched the software on her mobile phone much these days ever since she came back.

She found that there were a lot of message notifications popping up. Before, she had moted the notifications because she thought that they were too noisy.

The WeChat name (T/N: User ID/ Names that your friends can see) of the original body is her name, Yunyu.

It was a picture of herself smiling slightly without showing her teeth.

Yunyu’s heart trembled. She silently vowed, I will avenge you and accumulate blessings for you. I hope you will be healthy and have a smooth life in the next life. Wishing you a safe lifetime.

Then, she clicked on the profile picture and changed it into a picture of a jade (T/N: The jade used here was 美玉 Měiyù a type of jade) before changing the name to Little Fox.

Her title was Fuyu (T/N: In case y’all have forgotten it’s her princess title similar to Prince William’s title of Prince of Wales. But for the Chinese, it’s not a fixed title that is passed on. In Yunyu’s case the meaning of her title was her parents’ wish for her prosperity/ bellings/ good fortune or something) and Queen Mother and Father Emperor liked to call her Xiao Fuyu. Her Imperial Brothers liked to call her Little Fox, because when said in a fast manner, Xiao Fuyu sounded like Little Fox (T/N: 小狐狸 Xiǎo húlí. I guess when you say it fast it does kinda sound like 小福玉 Xiǎofú yù. It’s a far stretch for me but meh it’s Chinese peeps and their homonyms).

After changing her name and profile picture, Yunyu clicked on the messages. Most of them were from Song Jingjing and Pang Shanshan. She did not reply, and the two of them just talked among themselves. Jingjing said that Shanshan had been better these days and had probably walked out from the shadows of broken love. She even asked Yunyu when she would return to the Imperial Capital. Yunyu sent back a message saying that she planned to stay in her hometown and visit them when she had time.

The rest were messages from the class group and were news about her classmates. Scrolling down, there was a message from a person named Chen Shi’an.

He sent a lot of messages, dozens of them.

At first it was just a general greeting.

Chen Shi’an: Good morning, Xiao Yu’er.

Chen Shi’an: Xiao Yu’er, good night.

Chen Shi’an: Xiao Yu’er, I heard that you have returned to your hometown. How are you doing at home? When are you coming back to the Imperial Capital?

    Until two days ago.

Chen Shian: Xiao Yu’er? Xiao Yu’er, are you back home? Why haven’t I heard back from you? Are you okay?

Chen Shian: Xiao Yu’er? Did you get my message? Can you please reply me? I’m worried about you.

Counting from the day she went back home, Chen Shi’an sent her two messages every day. The later messages started taking on a progressively worried tone.

Yunyu had an impression of Chen Shi’an. He was a senior at the same university, and now he was in grad school. He was the son of heaven (T/N: 天子骄子 Tiānzǐ jiāozǐ – Basically an outstanding person who has it all) and had a good family background. Ge Qing (T/N: If I’m not mistaken, it’s that classmate who worked with her sister to set her up at the club) had liked him for four full years.

The original body also seemed to like him very much, and he also liked the original body.

The original Yunyu planned to confess to him after graduation when she joined a publishing company and had stabilized her position. Both of them were a bit introverted. They were obviously in love yet neither of them pierce through the window paper. As such, they have not even exchanged phone numbers and only contacted each other through WeChat (T/N: You don’t need to get a person’s number to contact them through Wechat, just their ID used or QR code).

However, she was no longer the original Yunyu and did not like Chen Shi’an.

Yunyu sighed, and texted him back,

Little Fox: Hello, I’m fine, but I’ve been busy at home recently.

Unexpectedly, the message was replied within a few seconds.

Chen Shi’an: Xiao Yu’er, it’s alright as long as you are fine. I have asked Song Jingjing and your other friends and got to know about your situation back home. Is Auntie better?

Little Fox: She’s better. Thank you for your concern.

These replies were all polite and a little distant.

Chen Shi’an was a smart person and could sense her alienation.

Chen Shi’an: Xiao Yu’er, what happened? When do you plan on returning to the Imperial Capital?

Little Fox: Senior, I plan on staying in my hometown to develop (T/N: It’s saying she plans on making something out of herslef/ advancing her career in her hometown but technically it’s not a career but you get the general gist).

The meaning of her refusal was obvious and Chen Shi’an could naturally see it. He was stunned for a bit, not understanding why Yu’er changed so much after going home?

He did not want to give up.

Chen Shi’an: Xiao Yu’er, I like you. Can you be my girlfriend?

    Little Fox: Senior, I’m sorry.

    After a long time.

    Chen Shi’an: Okay, I understand.

Yunyu silently said sorry in her heart. She was not the original Yunyu and she could not inherit her feelings for this man.

It was better to cut this mess with a sharp knife.

Exiting the chat interface, Yunyu was about to close her WeChat when a message suddenly popped up. She clicked on it and it turned out to be from Ge Qing.

Ge Qing: Yunyu, come out! Are you the cause of what is happening to me?!

Ge Qing had been unable to find a job since her mental breakdown. She could not sleep well and was plagued by nightmares. Her hair fell out in large quantities and she had even started to see a bloody ghost with a tattered body that was half missing.

She only saw it once at the intersection and she was so scared that she screamed on the spot.

The ghost realized she could see it, so it decided to follow her.

She had a complete breakdown and could not sleep all night. She could not slove it even after inviting some masters.

She racked her brains to think about the cause of the incident, and concluded that it all stemmed from the gesture that Yunyu made to her after she came back from the clubhouse that night as she only began having nightmares that night.

Only now did Ge Qing realize that what happened to her must have something to do with Yunyu. So, she went to confront Yunyu

Yunyu thought that since she already knew who was trying to harm her behind the scenes, she did not have to deal with Ge Qing.

    She simply blocked her directly.

On the other end, Ge Qing waited for half an hour and did not receive a reply. She continued questioning Yunyu but found that she had been blocked. She was so angry her face became distorted. She looked through her address book and easily found Yunyu’s number. When she tried calling her, she found that she was also blocked on this end. She let out an angry scream. As she lifted up the thin blanket, she saw a bloody mess of a figure in front of her. She screamed in fright, then shivered and hid in the blanket, not daring to show her head again.

In the living room, the Ge family’s parents were worried.

Mother Ge said, “Lao Ge (T/N: Old Ge, term of endearment/ nickname), this can’t go on. Let’s invite someone else to do a ritual. How can Qing’er‘s body bear this?”

Father Ge let out a puff of cigarette smoke and said for a long time, “Okay.”

Only Ge Qing’s younger brother was impatient. He kicked his foot on the table, and said angrily, “Y’all are insane! There is no such thing as ghosts in this world. It’s just that she has a problem and doesn’t sleep, only screaming ghosts every day. I think it’s better to send her to a mental hospital. I’m now a sophomore in high school, and I will be taking the college entrance examination next year. If she continues like this, how can I study?” Mother Ge sighed with red eyes, and Father Ge also lowered his head.
